A supermoon solar eclipse will occur in the northern hemisphere on March 20, 2015, during the Wiccan festival of Ostara or Spring Equinox. Ostara is one of eight festivals on the Wheel of the Year. At this time, the hours of light and dark are equal or balanced.
Ostara was the Goddess of Spring and many widespread traditions, such as spring cleaning and Easter celebrations with eggs, rabbits and hot crossed buns, are founded on ancient Pagan rituals.
This supermoon is not a full moon, but a new moon or dark moon and it occurs shortly after reaching its closest point to Earth during its orbit. Its effects will be felt, even if you can’t see it so it’s an ideal time for powerful spellwork. As the hours of dark and light are equal, it is also an ideal time for rituals to promote balance in your life.
