This year the Autumn Equinox, or first day of fall, takes place on September 22. On the Wiccan Wheel of the Year, the Autumn Equinox is a time for spells and rituals relating to organizing, planning for the future, finding balance and rest after labour. The hours of light and darkness are equal, just as they are at the Spring Equinox.
Long ago, the fall season was a time of hard work for many people. Fields were harvested and preparations were made for the long, cold winter ahead. Today, Wiccans use this festival to examine their personal progress to date and adjust their plans for the future.
