The first day of spring is known as Ostara and is one of eight festivals on the Wiccan Wheel of the Year. Also known as the Spring Equinox, this is the time when the hours of light and dark are equal. It occurs on March 20, 2017 in the northern hemisphere.
Ostara was the Goddess of Spring and many of our modern customs, such as spring cleaning and Easter celebrations with eggs, rabbits and hot crossed buns, are founded on ancient Pagan rituals. Spells to promote balance in your life are traditionally performed at Ostara, but you can also use this as an opportunity for cleansing, healing and renewing ceremonies.

OSTARA SPRING EQUINOX RITUAL
My Wiccan Wheel of the Year Guide has recipes for your celebration along with a “Ritual of the Balancing Eggs.” This ceremony requires a bit of advance preparation, to prepare the hard boiled eggs. You could also use chocolate Easter eggs, or hollow plastic eggs, as long as the colours correspond to the ones listed. You could even write the meanings of the different colours on paper and place them inside each plastic egg.
Regardless of the eggs you buy, you will use your intuition and the potent colour correspondences of the chakras, either as a solo practitioner or with like-minded people, to understand how to channel your energy for the coming year.
If you need a simple cleansing spell for your home, you will find it in my Simple Wiccan Magick™ Spells for Everyday book.
Blessed be and Happy Ostara!
